Guerra, cine e infancia. La niñez en el cine japonés durante la Guerra del Pacífico

Abstract

El presente artículo explora la relación del Estado y el cine japonés durante la Guerra del Pacífico y aborda cómo esta relación se vio reflejada en el discurso fílmico alrededor de la figura de la niñez japonesa. Para ello se analiza brevemente la historia del cine en Japón y la censura del Estado sobre la industria fílmica durante este periodo. Posteriormente se describen los cortos noticiosos oficiales, donde se muestra la vida de los niños durante la guerra, y finalmente se aborda la obra del director Hiroshi Shimizu quien, entre 1931 y 1948, realizó diversos filmes protagonizados por infantes.

This article explores the relationship between the Japanese State and the cinema industry during the Pacific War. It is divided into four sections: the first section analyzes the historical development of the film industry in Japan, while the second section studies the systems of control and censorship that the Japanese State imposed on cinema during the Pacific War. The third section analyzes movie news, which were the result of the relationship between the cinema industry and the government, and are examples of the official position of the Japanese State regarding infants. Finally, the last section analyzes the work of director Hiroshi Shimizu who, during this time, produced a significant number of movies that explore Japanese childhood before, during, and after the war.
