Sin vista pero con visión: fotografía de ciegos

Abstract

La hegemonía de la vista se ha visto reforzada por innumerables invenciones tecnológicas y una infinita multiplicación y producción de imágenes, es el acontecimiento fundamental de la edad moderna: la conquista del mundo con una imagen. Sobresale esa supremacía de la vista por sobre los demás sentidos para obtener conocimientos; a pesar de ello los otros sentidos están activos y completan la percepción del mundo, sobre todo en el caso de personas que padecen una discapacidad visual. Tanto así, que por muy incrédulo que parezca, hay ciegos que se dedican a la generación de imágenes fotográficas.

The hegemony of sight has been getting strong with all the countless technological inventions and infinite multiplication and production of images, being the fundamental scenario of the modern age: ‘the conquer of the world with an image’. Therefore more than other senses, we use our sight to gain knowledge, but this doesn’t mean the other ones are off, but are complementing our perception. This can be applied the most to people who suffer from a visual impairment, and as incredible as it may sound, there are blind people who are engaged in the production of photographic images.
