dc.description.abstract | In a context in which it has been accepted that Information and communications technology (ICT) are here to stay, and where it is understood that education is a process that allows, promotes and encourages the student to acquire not only knowledge, but to develop certain skills and attitudes, that is, competencies in order to be able to solve complex problems. It is convenient that the teacher develops digital competences, since it is a reality that the new generations of students —as digital natives— learn in a different way; and it is evident that sometimes due to resistance towards change and lack of information, the teacher stops teaching using digital resources that enhance the experience of the teaching-learning process for the students. It is now clear that the accumulation and transmission of knowledge has lost much of the strategic value it had in the past due to the enormous development of computer supports, the internet and artificial intelligence; consequently, knowledge has become a good available to whoever knows how to access it, that is, in the current context it is insufficient to find information, it is necessary to know how to orient oneself within the situation of overabundance of information, learn to manage the assimilation of it, make sense, extract, communicate and apply this information to solve the problems of our society. This work is difficult when the teacher does not know how to integrate the use of ICT into the classroom because they lack the necessary training to do so. Due to the above, the teacher’s self-reflection about the level of knowledge and achievement of their digital competence, based on the development of a digital culture in the classroom that fits the educational system that claims the new “network society”, is essential.
